NMC Students Find Housing Options at Oak Shore Commons
Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) - a public community college in Traverse City with over 4,000 students, is dealing with on-campus housing shortages with some waitlists over a year long. Oak Shore Commons has helped relieve the housing concerns for students and their parents by offering 9-month student housing with furnished bedrooms in a shared common space.
Students have access to BATA transportation, free access to the premier 24/7 fitness center Northwind Health & Fitness along with affiliated indoor climate-controlled storage Flex Self Storage. These units are priced individually to fit comfortably within a student's budget as they pursue either their Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
In addition, students have direct access to the Deepwater Point park on the Grand Traverse East Bay, giving them an opportunity to get away from their studies for a while and swim or sun within a 5-minute walk.
NMC students, particularly those studying in the prestigious maritime program, come from a variety of different states in the U.S. The housing crisis, especially for younger adults in Traverse City, has been given a slight relief from Oak Shore Commons apartments.
